HealthCore, Inc., a health services research firm, is seeking a Research Project Manager with project management experience in the healthcare consulting or biopharmaceutical industry to join our dynamic company. Founded in 1996, and now an independently-operating subsidiary of Anthem, Inc., HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the Federal Government with "real-world" data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. HealthCore’s projects range from retrospective to large-scale, prospective studies in the areas of drug, vaccine, and medical device safety surveillance, risk management, pharmacoepidemiology, health outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, and comparative effectiveness research.

We are currently seeking a Research Project Manager to work in our Watertown, MA or Wilmington, DE office. The Research Project Manager will collaborate with researchers, scientists, and senior leadership to manage the execution of research studies for a portfolio of clients in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage multiple projects of varying sizes and duration including small to medium projects that incorporates both the business and technical aspects of the project.

  • Apply project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems.

  • Work with moderate guidance to coordinate, facilitate, and motivate project teams to ensure performance of projects according to contracted scope of work, budget, and timelines.

  • Facilitate and lead effective project team and client meetings, lead the development and delivery of agendas and minutes, and serve as the point of contact for administrative and operational activities forproject teams and clients.

  • Ensure the editorial and quality review of scientific protocols, reports, and presentations.

  • Liaise with business development, regulatory, legal, finance, and research data departments to support proposal development, project contracting, and invoicing.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve existing or establish new processes.

  • Manage client expectations and proactively identify operational challenges and obstacles within project teams, ensurerisks have appropriate mitigation and contingency plans, andmanage escalation and resolution of issues to senior leadership.

  • In collaboration with senior leadership, inform resource planning and revenue forecasts for projects tomanage project workload and productivity.

  • Work with moderate guidance and develops communication management plan; defines project team roles and responsibilities, develops project schedule; identifies, documents and prioritizes scope changes and facilitates approval process; sets and manages expectations with research team business owners, research team leads, and team members; facilitates resolution of issues; regularly reports status of reports; tracks and manages time and budget against plan; prepares and participates in quality review; and conducts project close-out activities.


Requires a BA/BS in a related field; 3 years professional project management experience required during which at least 2 years are spent leading and directing project tasks, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly recommended.
