This healthcare business information role is responsible for creating and refreshing dashboards / visualizations for Anthem’s California Commercial business. The position will routinely work closely with the local business, provider, and clinical operations teams to gather data from multiple sources and assemble meaningful reports on healthcare cost, utilization and population metrics. The position will assess multiple data sources and recommend the most appropriate source for business needs. A key responsibility is to work closely with report developers and end users to identify and coordinate implementation of new reports and modifications to existing reports. The position will implement and monitor processes to refresh and deliver dashboards.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Design, Build and Refresh dashboards/data visualization related to healthcare data
Coordinate schedule refresh of reports and dashboards
Present summarized data interpretations and caveats to business and technical end-users
Evaluate data sources and determine the most appropriate data source for use in specific projects
Conduct quality checks for extracted data and other deliverables
Establish and maintain excellent knowledge of data definitions and data integrity issues specific to California
Coordinate projects related to dashboard development and/or small IT enhancements
Monitor processes related to data gathering, query execution, and dashboard refresh, identify and recommend improvements
Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
Develops and analyzes business performance reports (e.g. for claims data, provider data, utilization data) and provides notations of performance deviations and anomalies
Make recommendations based upon data analysis.
Experience working with large data sets and multiple data sources preferred.
Expert Level Proficiency with MS Excel, including pivot table functions
Experience building views in data visualization tools
Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels in the organization and summarize technical terms to business support areas
Experience working in a matrixed environment and proactive approach to obtain answers within deadlines
Familiarity with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical software is a plus
Ability to manipulate large sets of data is also required
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred locations: Woodland Hills, Walnut Creek, or Sacramento, and Occasional travel to/within California will be required.

Requires a BS/BA degree in related field; 3-5 years data analysis or related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
Knowledge of healthcare terminology and common cost, utilization and quality measures is highly preferred.
PC, spreadsheet and database skills, as well as experience in standard Business Information tools.
