We are seeking an experienced business information developer consultant to conduct complex data mining analyses, coordinate team report development activities, lead data and analytic projects and help set the data/technology strategy for the team. This job is focused on very complex data mining analysis, coordinating the activities of a project team, and developing complex strategic report applications.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Determines how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.
Coordinate and monitor analytic and reporting efforts
Coordinate projects across business units, including coordination with enterprise teams
Coach and mentor team members
Performs modeling of information sources and flows.
May coordinate the activities of a project team and monitors project schedules and costs for own projects.
Develops strategic report applications from the Data Warehouse.
Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.
Develops and supports complex data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.
Conducts training on use of applications developed.
Research and recommend processes and applications to improve delivery of reporting and analytics deliverables
Develops requirements documents
Identify team training and tool needs
Preferred Locations – Woodland Hills, Walnut Creek, or Sacramento, and Occasional travel to/within California will be required.

Experience working for a health insurance company and/or knowledge of health insurance industry functions is required
Knowledge of health plan (preferably California-based) functions required
Evidence of taking ownership of assigned projects from planning to execution through past work experience
Outstanding organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize successfully
Work experience that demonstrates exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with effective outreach across a matrixed virtual work environment
Experience managing work activities to meet established goals and deadlines
Expert level proficiency with MS Excel
Programming ability to develop and modify SQL based queries, and experience with large datasets and relational databases is required
Tableau experience preferred
MS Access experience preferred
Requires a BS/BA degree; 4-5 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
PC, spreadsheet, and database skills, as well as experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages is also required.
