This position is responsible for leading a team of market facing Sales Directors with the primary goal of achieving pharmacy growth within the External Business division. The growth will encompass net new membership lives resulting from aggressively managing a pipeline of Managed Care, Commercial, TPA, Government and Labor prospects that choose to carve out pharmacy benefits from their medical offering This position will play a key and visible role in achieving a high priority IngenioRx strategy. Developing winning sales strategies within our various markets will be critical, along with ensuring we have the right talent to successfully execute these strategies. In this capacity, the position works directly with the IngenioRx leadership team to ensure successful alignment of pharmacy pricing, products, external positioning and other aspects needed for success in the market.

  • Formulation of strategic solutions that help differentiate in the market

  • Ensure we are market competitive in our various verticals

  • Able to develop immediate credibility and long-term consultative relationships with Pharmacy Sales/Account Directors, Product, Pricing

  • Exceed the new pharmacy sales goals by focusing on key opportunities and relationships

  • Recruiting, motivating and retaining high quality sales executives.

  • Partnering with Marketing and others to continually refine and translate IngenioRx’s pharmacy message into successful market-facing messages to prospects.

Primary Responsibilities/Expected Contributions

  • Develop and champion the pharmacy sales vision, mission, strategy, and group objectives.

  • Communicates with IngenioRx leadership around sales progress, goal setting and progress against goal.

  • Provides executive leadership for the development of ongoing training materials/forums to educate Pharmacy Sales associates on pharmacy programs and how to effectively sell groups on the pharmacy value proposition.

  • Provides executive leadership and advocacy for the delivery of winning pharmacy RFP responses, pricing and Best & Final storytelling.

  • Communicate pharmacy sales opportunities and issues in the context of overall Anthem objectives.

  • Maintain ongoing opportunities for sharing of best-practices among the Sales team to promote an efficient and effective Sales model.

  • Identify opportunities for product improvement to meet the needs of clients and advocate for appropriate change.

  • Maintain positive senior level relationships with clients, IngenioRx executives and other key leaders.

  • Lead large P&L Pricing reviews at Pricing Committee that ensures a path to profitability as part of client specific deal decision making.

  • People and talent management – create a best in class Sales structure; ensure employee growth and retention

  • Attend select best & final presentations to supplement the prospective account team.

  • Drive pharmacy product and growth in partnership with business owners.


  • BA/BS required, or equivalent experience

  • 15 or more years of progressively responsible PBM Sales, account mgmt and/or operations experience and related experience in the managed care industry

  • Experience working with senior leadership engagement and team/segment management experience,


  • Business, Clinical and Operational acumen

    Annual Salary Range*: $194,720 - $243,399

    Actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
