Engineer Sr (PS41509)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Primary Duties include but are not limited to:
Analyze and evaluate detailed business and technical requirements using Rational toolset, including RSA, ClearCase and ClearQuest version control tools
Perform design, development and testing of complex Java/J2EE based applications; perform basic RDBMS programming using Oracle, DB2, and NoSQL (MongoDB) database technologies
Ensure unit tests are completed and meet test plan requirements; ensure system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan
Integrate activities with other IT departments for successful project implementations and develop standards and guidelines for both simple and highly complex information system components that support business operations
Lead technical initiatives, mentor junior co-workers and perform code reviews; configure and support WebSphere environments to ensure system reliability
Strong experience of working in a fast paced Agile environment and familiar with agile tools like Jira, Confluence & DevOps tools like Bamboo, BitBucket, GitHub, Quay.
Application development and design experience in technologies including Java, Spring, JSON and RESTful services, SOA standards, including SOAP, REST, WSDL, JSON, XSLT
Support new application deployments using BuildForge code deployment tool and schedule and support system upgrades; troubleshoot application issues; utilize Spring, Hibernate and JUnit frameworks
Experience in Websphere Application Server and OpenShift
Performs technical design reviews and code review.
Facilitate group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements, design sessions and code review sessions
Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to medium sized projects.
Supports vendor evaluation
Identifies and develops technical solutions to business requirements using java/j2ee technologies
Owns the change request process and may coordinate with other teams as necessary.
Requires an BA/BS degree in related field or technical institute training and 7 or more years related experience for the Engineer Lead position and 5 or more years of related experience for the Engineer Sr position; multi-platform experience, and expert level experience with business and technical applications; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Incumbent should also have the ability to mentor others, and provide troubleshooting support.
