This position will sit onsite in an Anthem office: St. Louis, MO (preferred location), Mason, OH Indianapolis, IN or Louisville, KY.
The Legal Specialist will be responsible for assisting the legal area that supports Medicaid provider solutions team in Nebraska and Missouri for government business with the possibility of supporting additional markets for government, commercial insured and self-funded business. Primary duties may include but are not limited to:
Drafts contract templates and amendments to provider agreements.
Review and respond to proposed changes to provider agreements, including contract addendums (e.g., value-based programs; state specific requirements) and draft alternative language when needed.
Participate in contract negotiations and strategizing with business and staff.
Utilize contract management software to facilitate tracking of custom provisions and documentation of required approvals.
Responds to questions/issues regarding provider contract language.
Assist the compliance team with regulatory filings of provider agreements or contract templates.
Assist with provider disputes.
Prepares and assists with creating training programs related to support of Provider Solutions.
Assist with settlement agreements, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements and other documents as requested.
Conducts legal research and analysis.
Assists with development of state requirements matrix.
Assists with regulatory governance and compliance issues.
Helps assess impact of new state and federal legislation affecting the corporation.
Requires a high school diploma; 2 years of legal or related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field preferred.
