In this transformational leadership role, the Staff VP, Business Automation, will build an integrated business automation strategy that will enable our culture, talent, processes, tools, and technologies to transform Anthem’s business capabilities to deliver an exceptional experience.

Reporting to the VP Process Excellence and Business Automation leading a team while you work remotely or report to an Anthem office with communicable distance from your home with the ability to travel for business purposes about 25% of the time.

Staff VP, Business Automation will proactively engage with business partners and stakeholders to understand business operations and goals and identify opportunities for process improvement through process redesign and automation technologies.

In this fast-paced environment, the Staff VP, Business Automation, will be a thought leader and work directly with business leaders to prioritize improvement opportunities to deliver value within business automation.

To achieve these priorities, the Staff VP, Business Automation will have the opportunity to build a high performing team deliver and drive the execution of the automation roadmap across business segments while working in an opportunity-rich environment with the ability to impact and leverage business automation to drive change and impact the health of humanity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a champion and visionary across the business and serving as a thought leader with an understanding of business operations, process excellence, and automation industry evolution and technologies

  • Initiates collaboration with business leaders, strategic automation partners, technology teams, stakeholders, and internal customers focused to drive transformational change and business optimization through process redesign and automation technologies

  • Leads multiple programs across complex lines of business through influence; contributes to and helps identify business issues, business risks and identifies business tasks for improvement of processes and recommends and establishes optimal automation solutions that optimize business solutions to deliver seamless end to end performance

  • Establishes governance processes, training, and enterprise communications

  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates the performance of direct reports

Qualifications

  • Requires a BA/BS; 14+ years of experience managing large scale transformational projects in a complex business and systems environment; 10 years of management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background

  • Experience in the assessment, selection, design, development, implementation and support of emerging technology within a mid to large enterprise preferred

  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management, including senior leaders

  • Delivering clear business value

  • Ability to travel

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business experience in leveraging business automation concepts such as hyper-automation, digitalization, cognitive automation

  • Lean Six Sigma / Black Belt certification or other process improvement certification

  • Strong experience with process excellence, change management, and stakeholder experience management

  • Experience collaborating and influencing stakeholders across the enterprise

  • MBA preferred
