Responsible for leading the broker sales channel for Local Commercial Business with a focus on increased sales volume and retention. Partners closely with leadership to execute on all broker activities; Collaborates across business units and markets to ensure growth and profitability targets are met; Creates, documents and communicates the broker distribution strategy; Implements a comprehensive, multi-facet broker engagement and training program; Provides strategic input to the Local markets supported and serves as the business lead on several key projects; Creates and maintains the broker compensation/bonus program; Leads Commercial Integration of Distribution Channel activities to include IngenioRx, Stop Loss, GRS, and Specialty. Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Primary duties include:
Leads the Distribution Channel team focused on Large/Local brokers and producers. This is a team of three individuals.
Responsible for aligning and determining best practices for broker supplemental compensation in the Large/Local markets
Establishes protocols and approaches for managing the national brokers in the Local/Large market. This includes the following:
Development and management of relationships with producers
Delivery of Anthem value proposition to producers
Primary broker/consultant interface for all Commercial Business products
Advocate for broker/consultant issues within Anthem
Manage semi-annual broker/producer Forum/meetings with full distribution channel
Coordinate market feedback for various Anthem teams
Assist local markets with producer issues
Coordinate delivery of Anthem subject matter expertise to brokers including but not limited to Ingenio Rx, clinical and wellness programs, digital/AI, Sydney, Stop Loss, financial reporting and analytics, Actuarial, Specialty, etv.
Resolve conflicts between producers and Anthem
Determine and assess profitability of producer relationships
Assist with Data Use Agreements for producers
Coordinate activities with team members focused on National Accounts and Ingenio Rx
Facilitate semi-annual meetings of the Broker Advisory Council (Top 15 producers)
Assist in streamlining of broker reporting as well as develop appropriate broker reporting
Participate and integrate with Local Market staff meetings and sales/marketing endeavors
Assist VP Distribution Channel in developing strategic activities for Distribution Channel
Manage key producer relationships
Interface with Anthem leaders to facilitate growth and retention and business
Requires a BA/BS; or equivalent experience
Minimum 15 years’ experience in broker relations and Commercial Sales.
Experience successfully managing producers.
Experience presenting to C-Suite Leaders
Experience working with Senior Leadership to resolve complex issues
Experience developing Strategic Relationships with Key Consulting Firms
Experience developing Consultant Strategies with Plan Market Leaders
Strong organizational skills as well as demonstrated leadership ability.
Experience managing large projects and developing broker reports

Annual Salary Range*: $158,000- $197,000
Actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
